Famous Last Words for Week 12

Well week was so hectic, but it looks like it is going to wind down until finals. Oh joy! This week I submitted my final story for my portfolio. In order to get an A all I have to do this week are the reviews. Yay! I know that by finishing this class earlier it will help me to stay focused on all my other classes this semester. Finish strong guys!

So, this week I wrote about the churning of the ocean. I think that it is one of my best stories yet. If you get a chance, take a look at it. You won't be disappointed! It's ironic that towards the end I seemed to be getting the hang of this story telling process and my stories began to improve as time went on. That's what I think I can really thank this class for is improving my writing skills greatly!

This week, both of my parents came to town. I went to the spring game with my dad to scout out how our football team is going to be next year. I think our offense looks like we have some more gunners this year, and I trust coach Mike to make the defense what it needs to be. In the Big 12 it more important to not let the other team make big plays on you and to ot course get the team off the field so our offense can score. Of course, our offense needs to be able to put the points on the board in order to keep up with these dynamic Big 12 offenses. I can't wait for fall football! But first, summer!

Then, I went to a wine and palette with my mom. Us girls really enjoyed ourselves! My mom was even talking about making that her hobby like I have golf. It was pretty cute and special for me.

Good luck this week guys! And I hope you all are as close to finishing this class as I am! GET As!

Famous Last Words for Week 11

Happy Easter y'all!

(Personal picture at my aunts house of her Easter flowers)

I hope everyone has had a great day with their families celebrating the true meaning of this day! Even death couldn't conquer our Lord! :) I know I have been really enjoying it, and it isn't even over yet!

Anyways, this week has been crazy ad I am so glad it is over and I lived! This week I just have two tests on the same day, and then, I can start preparing for finals. Yippee skipee. Not.

I really enjoyed writing my story this week so if you get a chance to read it then please do! If not it will be in my portfolio soon anyways.

So, this weekend, a few friends and I went to see Furious 7. It was great. However, I kept waiting to see how they got rid of Paul Walker and they never did. I'm not bummed about it though. It did make the movie more suspenseful though! I felt retarded once it ended and that didn't happen.

Another thing that happened this weekend was Wisconsin beating Kentucky. I watched that too and it was insane. I loved watching my bracket blow up. Not.

Something I really enjoyed about this week was the weather. I was able to go outside and play with my precious Carmi several times. I went on several runs, and even had time to go out to the lake where my friend lives and ride fourwheelers. It was a really great week. It is crazy how much stuff you can get done when you are being productive and not sitting on your booty. I had a lot of stress this week, but I did a really great job balancing that out with some time to relax and have some fun. I am ready for summer because this semester is on crack all the way until the end for me now. Just gotta take it one week at a time. That's what I keep telling myself or I would pull my hair out.

Anyways, I hope everyone is having a less stressful time then I am! Have a great week! I almost have an A in this class and I hope everyone else is getting to that point as well. Good luck!

Famous Last Words for Week 10

Well, here we are again. I have so much to do this week. I hope I make it though it alive. No, I'm sure I will, but it is going to be absolutely crazy. I am ready for summer. Actually, I can't stand presentations. So, if I didn't have a presentation this week, I don't think I would be so nervous about it. I just hate all of the eyeballs, but get this over with and I don't have to do that anymore this year. Woohoo!!

This weekend, I took my puppies and we went to the midevil fair! It was a blast. My little corgi thinks she is hot stuff, and tries to show her guns. However, she has none to back her up. It is hilarious! My boyfriend has a pitbull, so I think my corgi thinks oh I've got this and if I don't he's got you. Funnily enough though, my little pitbull is a fat baby. He is the one that would bark really loud and be scared by his voice and run behind me. It's hilarious. I love him!

(Droseph at my house taken by me)

The Mahabharata was a crazy book. There was so much going on! It was hard to keep track. I really had to use the reading guides in order to keep track of every single event that happened. It was all over the place, but those guides were extremely helpful. I hope that you guys like my story this week. I struggled when choosing what to write about.

My mood has just been so much better now that I think we may have finally survived winter, but of course with that means it is tornado season. I get so scared that I am going to die because I live on the second floor in an apartment, and if a storm blows over my place I am for sure a goner. That's a scary thought! However, I guess because I am from Oklahoma this is what makes the spring sort of exciting.

Have a good week!

Famous Last Words for Week 9

Wow! So this week did not start as planned. That video presenting itself, unfortunately, did not surprise me. This is not to say that I think all frat or sorority people are racist. I just have been to a couple of these houses and have heard things I did not want to hear.

I am a firm believer of equality, but most importantly I believe in Christ. Now take a step back and think about what it really means to say that. To me that means to treat everyone as Jesus did, and to call on God in every aspect of your life. Well it actually encompasses so much more, but this is what I want to talk about right now. How can you call yourself a christian and then say or do things such as this? I really struggle with this question. Not that I am saying that if you make a mistake you aren't a christian. NO! NOT AT ALL. However, claiming to be a christian, a person needs to remember to love thy neighbors and to act like christ. Okay I am done ranting. This video has just hit me harder then I expected them too.

This week has also been hectic in school. I had so many quizzes and assignments due. Geesh, these teachers don't care about letting up, do they? :D But I did! And now it is time to celebrate!!!!

Finally! Spring break has arrived! I have been so busy this week trying to complete all of my work so that I can just relax the rest of the week. Well guess what! The time has finally come. I AM DONE! Yay!!!!! I hope every one has a great week, just relax and have some fun, but most importantly be safe! Happy vacationing yal!

Famous Last Words for Week 8

I found it fun to review all the work I had already accomplished thus far. It was a great reminder of all that I had learned. I also had fun seeing what others thought about the course and what they have learned so far.

This weekend my dad came to town, and we went to the OU vs Kansas basketball game. The game was very intense. The second half was literally back and forth with OU coming out on top with a buzzer beater tip in bucket. My dad and I had a blast. We are very obsessed with all the OU teams. It was a lot of fun to visit with him since he is my best friend. My puppy, Carmi, really enjoyed the time as well.

I read a couple new stories in the project commenting project. It was interesting to see how the storybook projects are coming since I chose to do the Portfolio style. I still think I made the best decision for me because I am so indecisive I would have hated to be forced to focus on one theme the entire semester. I also hate doing my own research. Someone else can do that for me.

This past week was a little stressful with test, but I cannot wait to get to spring break. I know that this week is going to go by so slow. I hope everyone has fun plans to relax and get away from the crappy weather. I am going to enjoy my time on the golf course and go see my best friend who lives out of town. Just as this week will pass by slowly while we eagerly anticipate next week, I am sure that next week by pass by way too fast. However, every day is one step closer to summer! My favorite time of the year. I can't wait.

Hope everyone has a happy week!

( It's almost spring meaning here come all the pretty flowers. A picture of my granny's garden from last year!)

Famous Last Words for Week 6

I had a lot of fun writing about Hanuman turning into a cat in order to prowl around Lanka. I thought it was awesome that Hanuman could change into different animals too! As if he wasn't a cool enough character already. Also, I love cats! Because life without animals would be dull and pointless

I really hope it snows tomorrow so we can have a snow day! It isn't supposed to get here until 11 ish which is perfect because I don't have class until 12 ish! Some of my friends already have real people jobs and they have to work regardless of the weather. So no more snow days for them. I can definitely take my time to get to that point.

There was one writing I really enjoyed reading this week. It was about King Anjura. I am not fond of Ravana. So it was nice to be reminded that there was one character in The Ramayana that put Ravana in his place. I hate character or people for that matter with a big ego. I had actually forgotten about this character so it was fun to remember this tale and read a different person's perspective.

I guess midterm season has hit. I have exams in all four of my classes with test within about a week. It is going to be intense. Luckily I got 1 out of the way and I have 3 more to go at this point. Oh well, I will survive it again.

Tonight a few friends and I are having burgers and going to watch a movie. It is going to be fun and a good end to a rough week. It always seems like the middle of the semester is so stressful for me and then some how lessens up.  Good luck this week everybody!

Famous Last Words for Week 5

Another week! Well I guess I enjoy this Portfolio thing. It seems like a lot of work, and I am by no means trying to be a professional writer. However, I am positive all of this will improve my writing skills for the long run. This past week had some fantastic weather, and now it is cold again. So naturally I am mad again! Friday I went to this pub crawl with my friends that funded the Norman Music Festival and was able to wear a skirt and not be cold. That is so very annoying! I HATE COLDDDDD!

In other news, in my women and genders class, we watched a documentary called MissRepersentation. I highly recommend any one reading this check it out! It was about how women are portrayed in the media, and how damaging it can be to young girls to feel the need to maintain their standards in order to fit into society. The documentary was truly fascinating and I couldn't possibly tell you all about here, but it was awesome. Check it out!

In this class, I actually really enjoyed writing my storytelling this week. I created a bed time story out of the tale about Hanuman's birth. I love that little monkey. I wrote so much I almost had to reduce some of the words due to the limit. If you get a chance check it out and let me know what you think!

(My Valentine! photo by me)

Lastly, to be so cliche, I hope everyone had a great Valentine's day! Even if you don't have a significant other, I'm sure you have people around you that love and adore you. Those are the people that count! I know I ate too much candy and felt very loved! As always, the weekend is over and it's back to the gym for me!

Good luck this week yal! One day at a time!

Famous Last Words for Week 4

Well one more week done and one more step closer to finishing school! Wow, that may have freaked me out a little too much! So last week we started the storybook project and I already think I decided to do the wrong topic. I am always so indecisive. It's gonna be the death of me. I enjoyed writing more detailed author's notes this week because I felt like it reminded me of what I actually like in these novels, the women characters.

I love nice weather so I cannot wait to get these assignments done so I can go play with my dog at the park! When I was at church this morning, it gave me a really good message that I want to share. My pastor was talking about Jonas and the fish. He was reminding us to pray often and early, and once you prayed let that worry go and let God talk to the problem for you. This really spoke to me because recently I have been feeling a disconnect between an important person in my life and I have been fretting it. I feel like I can just release that worry to him and let him deal with it. He'll steer me right.

In my women and genders study class, we discussed this week about skin lighteners. I felt like this related to this class because the documentary we watched said that this was a popular trend of the Indian culture. I couldn't believe this. One thing that made it hard to believe is that being a white girl, I am always trying to get tan. In the summer, I look like a Mexican! It hit me hard because it felt like we are all trying to change our appearances into something we are not. Personally, I love the skin color of different races. I don't understand why everyone wants to be white. However, it stems from a system that benefits the white man. As if he is the only one that has all the power. I believe we all need to love our own skin, and embrace it. It is apart of who we are and the origin from where we come from. We need to join to together and embrace the differences of every person.

Week 3: Famous Last Words

This week has been a little draining. I hate when you get sick but still have all of these deadlines and still have to do stuff. I can' wait until I have a job with sick time so I can just sleep.

While finishing The Ramayana, I couldn't help but say, "Yay Rama!" I figured that Rama was going to conquer Ravana and get Sita, but I was anticipating the finale. I really enjoyed writing my story about Sita's point of view about her captured experience. It gave people an understanding of Sita waiting and praying Rama was coming. The Ramayana just told the story from Rama's experienced. I really enjoyed reading people's stories about Jatayu and Sampathi! They were my favorite animal characters in this book. Eagles are already thought of as so graceful, and these characters are a great demonstration of this quality. Animals have a strange way of showing people how to behave and treat each other.

In other news, my other classes are going along pretty well. I hate the weather changes though. I have two quizzes this week so that sucks. However, things could always be worse. I always just try to get through one week at a time. Just keeping my head down and getting through it. Time is starting to move too fast and graduation is getting closer and closer. I am trying to get all of this online work done so I can watch the Superbowl tonight in peace. I love watching football so it's going to be fun, but this day can be kind of sad in my world because that means I have to wait 6 months to be able to watch it again. Let the long off season arrive, and the boredom start. At least basketball can keep my mind of it. :) This probably makes me sound sports obsessed, but I guess I kind of am! Until next season. Hopefully our coaching staff is bringing their A game this spring.

Famous Last Words for Week 2

This past week has been great! I found out that my mom is getting me an iPad! I am pretty excited. I got behind on my work this weekend because my best friend turned 24 Friday! However, we have had some good food and have made some unforgettable memories. Wow, 24 what an oldie! I am going to have to visit him in the nursing home soon! Anyways, Martin Luther King Jr. day caused me to think I could be lazy and not do much. It was a great weekend, but I am in a hustle this Sunday. Luckily, there is a "Long Island Medium" marathon to keep me company. :) There aren't many options to pick my best writings this week, so I guess I will pick my storytelling assignment. I felt like my focus this week was to brush up on my quoting skills. I feel that aspect of writing will be important this semester. I read a great story this week from a classmate, Scott. He had a great outlook on Rama and the Bow to win over Sita. He was really creative. My other classes are going well! I am really loving the Principles of Health and Exercise class. Dr. Black is awesome; he knows a lot of random facts that I love learning. I always take classes in my major and think. I am so glad that I picked this major. It is so perfect! I discovered a new option for a career, a Cardiac rehab therapist. I am excitedly looking into it. Also, I learned that an active obese person is healthier then an inactive moderate sized person. So get up and enjoy the fresh air people! As always, I am just trying to take this semester one week at a time! Come on SUMMERRR! Tomorrow, I am going to see my granny for some good food and visit time! This week should be fun and hectic too!

Week 1: Famous Last Words

During this past week, I feel like I have learned so much about blogging. This is my first blog ever because I generally don't feel the need to document everything that goes on in my life. However, it is really different to be doing this for an assignment. As for school work, I would much rather do this then a lot of other assignments I have done in the past. This week, I really enjoyed the story retelling assignment. When I was younger I would waste all my parents' printer paper trying to make book. I think this semester will be fun minus the reading but that's expected for me. This class is really going to expand my imagination. Some of the stories I have read so far are more intriguing because they have a broader creativity skills. My other classes are going okay. This class has by far had the most work already though. On a great note, I had a great weekend! I love whenever the weather is pleasant! Everyone is out and about exercising and giving our lungs fresh air! I went to the OU vs OSU men's bball game and we crushed them. Thank God because I can't take another lose to them this year in my presence. My little corgi and I had so much ball time. She is so pooped! Love my Carmi so here is another pic of her :)
